Good Old NIU

For this trip, Andy and Lauren will be putting selected pictures up from the various places visited.
Hopefully, everyone can see (for once) where we've been, since we're really bad at sending postcards,
and even worse about calling! We'll try to update as often as possible,
so check back when you get a chance. Enjoy!

Colorado is a really interesting place!
We drove through the northwestern part of the state, and stayed overnight in Craig--where it snowed!
What happened to the 80 degree weather?

We missed the turnoff for the Salt Lake State Park, so Andy decided
to do some off-roading. We picked a dirt road, and took some shots of the sunset in the Salt Lake Area.
Woa! Is that Brigham Young?!!

Lake Tahoe is really cool! It doesn't suck like Yosemite does,
so go visit Lake Tahoe and avoid the stupid people! Actually, Lake Tahoe is a lot like Lake Geneva,
except it's about 100 times bigger (did you know it holds enough water to cover the
entire state of California with 4 inches of water?) and about 200 billion times cooler.
And, you might even see famous people--like us!!

Yosemite is really pretty, even if it's way over-visited.
The tunnels are the best, even better than chocolate-covered Oreos.
(But not better than Oberweis, that's for sure.)

It's a huge pile of sand...what more can we say? It's a vehicle recreation area in California,
where people take four-wheelers and whatnots out to have some fun. And it's really sandy!!

Here's us packed and ready to camp at a back country campground, just north of San Francisco.
We spent about three hours hiking in, packing everything we needed for the three days.
It was heavy! But a lot of fun. And we brought 4 cans of anchovies...what more does a person need?

So...uh, Andy let me "borrow" his camera while we were hiking...these pictures were the result.

A little ways down from our campsite on the seashore, was this giant waterfall. It was gorgeous!

Finally from the camping mini-trip, a picture of our campsite and the view from the tent.
The view helped make up for the horrible sunburn we both ended up with.

So, you know how California has giant trees? Well, here they are!!!

So, we spent a few days driving up the Oregon coast. We even took a detour to visit Eugene, and the University of Oregon.
The state is full of trees, and really amazing coastline. And did you know, it's illegal to pump your own gas in the state of Oregon?
Too many gas stations were blowing up in the 70's, so they made all gas stations full service,
and they keep them around today because it creates jobs.
Now we're all smarter because we read this!

This is Crater Lake National Park in Oregon. You wouldn't think this picture was taken in the middle of May, but it was.
Half the roads in the park still weren't open, due to the enormous snowfalls.
The park receives an average of about 42 ft of snow a year.

We're trying to update our site as frequently as possible, but sometimes it's difficult to find the internet access.
So check back often, cause things are changing! A big hug to our families!
Currently, we're in the Vancouver area of British Columbia, and it is every bit as wonderful as we'd hoped.
The mountains are huge and everywhere, and people say eh alot.
And they have this wonderful dish called a poutine, which is french fries covered in gravy and cheese curds...
they're even served at Burger King.
We plan to continue traveling up the coastline, taking a ferry from Vancouver to Victoria,
and then up to Prince Rupert or even Alaska. Take care, and check back soon!

Dragon Rules!
